KHALIFA MOSLEM AT EUROPE PARLIMENT

The European Parliament has held a meeting that discussed ‘A Message of Peace’ to look at how forces of tolerance and moderation can tackle religious extremism of all forms.
This was the first meeting of the ‘Friends of Ahmadiyya Muslims group’, a group that highlights that the cause of peace is at the heart of the Muslim faith. The Ahmadiyya Muslims group promotes a common vision of human rights and freedom of religion for all, and it seeks to promote respect between followers of different faiths.
The Khalifa of Islam and the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad delivered a powerful and inspiring address at
the European Parliament.
Dr Charles Tannock, Conservative MEP for London and the new Chairman of the friendship group spoke at the inaugural event. Dr. Tannock has a strong working relationship with the Ahmadiyya community.
"It is a prosperous, courageous and determined community. Its slogan ‘Love for all, hatred for none’, is the welcome antithesis of the hatred and violence perpetrated by a minority of jihadi radicals." Dr. Tannock said.
Dr. Tannock said that "religious extremism and violence represents a clear and present danger to both peace and respect for human rights which ultimately underpins our democratic ideals." "We, in Europe, believe democracy generally as a rule goes hand in hand with respect for fundamental human rights," Dr. Tannock added.
Amjad Mahmood Khan, director of external affairs for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of the United States traveled to Brussels to attend the event at the European Parliament.
Khan said via his social media post that it was "an absolutely brilliant, cogent, insightful and prescient address delivered by Khalifa of Islam" in reference to extremism and peace.
Khan further related that after the speech by Khalifa of Islam a Member of Parliament was overheard saying, "We need more world leaders like Mirza Masroor."
